What was found

Thermal imaging identified abnormal heating at the B-phase termination of a feeder breaker inside a distribution panel at a high-end hotel. That breaker feeds a smaller downstream panel serving the hotel kitchen. The observed heating pattern is consistent with increased resistance at the termination, possibly from a loose or otherwise compromised connection. The exact condition was not disassembled and verified at the time of the scan, so further evaluation is recommended to determine the exact condition.

Why it mattered

The affected breaker supplied a downstream 120/208V panel serving the hotel kitchen.

Potential consequences

Continued degradation at the connection could interrupt power to equipment and circuits supplied by that kitchen panel, creating operational disruption.

Recommendation

Inspect, disassemble, clean and reassemble to proper component torque.
